Frank, born in The Netherlands in 1978, kickstarted his professional career in the USA at Immunicon Corporation, where he led the development of new IVD and RUO devices. He developed the CellTracks EasyCount platform, a cost-efficient, easy-to-use cytometer for a wide range of applications including live/dead cell counts and detection of respiratory virus-infected cells in nasopharyngeal swabs.
He also developed the CellTracks Analyzer II system, an automated cytometer for imaging magnetically enriched circulating tumor cells from blood samples.
CellTracks Analyzer II won the "Medical Design Excellence Award 2006" and the CellSearch System was recognized with the prestigious "Prix Galien USA 2009".
He has been a postdoc at Amsterdam University Medical Center, where he was a VENI laureate, coordinator of a 6M€ NWO-TTW program - Cancer-ID, and co-promotor for three Ph.D. students. He has been a postdoc on a collaboration between the University of Twente and Menarini Silicon Biosystems to automate the identification of circulating tumor cells in sample images.
